
Mark Chipman: Canadian Hockey Executive and Businessman
Mark Chipman, born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1960, is a Canadian hockey executive, lawyer, and businessman. He is the chairman of True North Sports & Entertainment, which owns the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets and the MTS Centre. Chipman serves as the team’s governor and is on the NHL Board of Governors.
Before joining True North, Chipman worked as a lawyer in Florida and then joined Birchwood Automotive Group in Winnipeg in 1988. In 2001, he became the president of Megill-Stephenson Company, his family’s holding company, which includes Birchwood dealerships and Longboat Development Corporation.
Aside from his business ventures, Chipman serves on the board of the Hockey Canada Foundation and was awarded the James C. Hendy Memorial Award in 2005 for being the AHL’s top executive. With a net worth of $500 million, he is recognized as a prominent figure in the Canadian business and hockey communities.
